Today, 2-March, 2009 couldn’t have been better. One man’s struggle finally got answered. And truly in a way that they should’ve been. All his prayers, his hard work and his dedication got heard. Today he got the most coveted designation in my city. The one that he, some times patiently, some times eagerly and some times desperately wanted. The one designation that he dreamt of for past one and a half years, the one that he saw coming to him and then just when he thought he had it, he lost it. The one that eluded him of his most awaited celebrations. Yes, my dad is finally The S.E. of P.H.E.D, kota. Yes, now he would be the supreme of the city that he has given 30 yrs of his life. Congratulations!!
Let me take you through a journey of this one man who not only has risen through the worst of patches in life, but has emerged stronger every single time he was pushed to wall. Let me introduce to you to my father, my idol and most certainly the best Man that I have ever come across in life.
I would not take you through the ones that you could guess or whatever is a fact. This would exclusively be my journey through his life. My journey, as I saw him fight through to glory.
My earliest memories are of the time when we moved in to Kota because of Mom’s job. We stayed at place called Vallabh bari, a place which holds its own sweet importance in my life. I do not remember too many things from there except that meeting him used to be quiet a task. He started getting busier from the time he arrived in Kota. He probably found the best incubator in the form of a city to grow his tactical skills and shoot up in sky.
Before we could take and account of what’s happening, we moved into PHED colony and the house no KRW 22. Life was moving too fast and we were growing up amidst all the comforts, and he continued to become busy by the day.
Some excerpts of his talks on the phone that most certainly have left huge impact on us: -
1)Pressure cum hai, valve ki do chudi khol do aur report karo. (It worked every single time-this meant that he knew what language the labor understands and how he can translate his engineering into their language-brilliant!!)
2)Gaadi main chalaunga, tu thaka hua hai, neend aa sakti hai (This happened on one of his sites where I happened to be with him. It was ghat section and he was heading a project which no body else could complete, needless to mention he completed it ahead of schedule, this statement was made to his full time driver, this shows his leadership skills and caring for his sub-ordinates)
3)Tum log mujhe roz good morning karke hi school jaoge (there was time when he used to return by 2am and we used to go to school by 6, hence one full month went by without we being able to speak with him, it was then that he devised this. This ensured that even when he is fast asleep we would share a smile with him-Indeed a loving father).
4)Beta, rishtey todna bahut asaan hota hai, nibhana bada mushkil, lekin ghar bhara ho to hi accha lagta hai (this was when family was going under tremendous turmoil, he stood strong, kept everything to himself, did not let anything fall and result is that the house still sees 30-40 people every time he wants-What a family man :-) ).
5)Woh mere pita hain, aur unke liye main kuch bhi kar sakta hun, kuch bhi. (This happened when the question were asked about his unconditional love for my grandpa-Given a chance Dad, I would like to make this statement too :-) ).
The whole life is full of these; his way of handling things is not only brilliant but learning for everyone around him. He doesn’t like favoring people, he is toughest one to be on your side, but trust me if he is, then there is nothing that can stop you from winning in life.
Coming to his recent promotion, I was surprised when I heard people talk; they wanted him to be at the chair. This surprises me, how much a person can be loved and respected at his work place. How much dedicated can a person be, how he can manage all ends.
It’s this era of IT that we are talking about work life balance, we talk about we being extremely busy, trust me, I could never use this statement in front of him. He was busy like hell, he was running all over the place, yet some how he never missed those weekend chaats with us, those weekend picnics, the day outings, the trips to mamaji’s place, the trips to baran, and those trips to jaipur, he missed nothing. He managed it all and managed them all brilliantly. Am sure, his father is proud of him being his son, his siblings are proud of they having such an elder brother, we are most definitely proud of him being our father.
Not that he only led everything to perfection; he also had his bad time, but then who doesn’t go through the lean patch. It’s actually what you do when you are pushed to the wall that determines how strong you are, and I am sure each one of us who has known him can tell you, that he is most certainly one of the strongest personalities that one would come across.
Oh God! I am getting confused, there is so much more to share and mind just isn’t stopping to think. So I stop in here about the peripherals and rather concentrate around the subject.
There is something that I would like him to read
Daddy,
While you always kept your troubles to yourself, while you only wanted us to have the best in life, while you worked hard so that we get best of our education. I want to tell you that I remember everything, I remember the day when I wanted to buy a badminton racquet and I picked up one which was the best, you didn’t thought for a while, you bought it for me. The day when I picked up best shoes for football, you got that for me too. And I most certainly remember the day at Supriya garments when I bought a dress more than you had in your pocket, you bought that for me without letting anyone know your position.
Daddy, even though I have become busy in life, even though I do not talk to you every day, and even though I am not able to spend time with you, I want to tell you that I love you and you have no idea how happy I am on this achievement of yours.
I just wish I am able to achieve what you have achieved, I want to have that masala thumbs up with you after the final results while you scold me in your style , I want to sit with you on that chair at mohan chaat center eating away those aaloo-tikki, I want to eat that ice cream at khalsas, I want live all that yet again.
But first, I want to sit with you in that white ambassador and bask in glory of being the son of most loved and respected man. I want to get in the car and feel good about myself.
Oh God!! I just can’t wait to be at Kota.
Once again, congratulations papa, may God bless you and may you achieve all that you have always dreamt off.
On behalf of munnu and Nidhi, I wanted to tell you, given a choice we would like to be with you at this hour of celebrations. May God hear us and may he bring us all together at a place which is not separated by such huge distances.
Love you.
Tunnu
